2022 League Changes

All changes were approved at the league meeting on June 5, 2022.

Number of Games Played

  • U10 teams will now play 8 regular season games

    • previously played 10 regular season games

  • U12 & U14 will continue playing a 10 game regular season

WCOSA Cup Format

  • A single elimination tournament with cross-seeded matchups between the two divisions will now be the  format for age divisions where each team does not play against every other team within the division during the regular season. If the age division has the right number of teams where each team plays against one another, the seeding and matchups will based on standing points 1-8.

    • previously teams were matched within the respective division based on seeding and would compete in the championship against the other divisional winner. 

  • The three round tournament will now be played between two days. Saturday will consist of rounds one and two. Sunday will consist of Round 3 (championship games).

Referee Pay Scale

  • U12 teams will each be responsible for paying $35 per game

    • previously $30 per game

  • U14 teams will each be. responsible for paying $45 per game

    • previously $35 per game

  • U10 teams will continue to be responsible for paying $25 per game

  • Referees will need to be registered on TeamLinkt 

    • previously there was no line of communication between the league and referees. This will serve as a platform to send updates and allow communication if needed.

U14 Playing Time Guidelines & Formation

  • For U14 teams only, the 50% playing time for each player is no longer a requirement

    • previously each player was required to play 50% of the game.

Rosters

  • Team rosters will no longer consist of "floating players". Players can only be listed on one roster within the division.

    • Due to COVID players were allowed to be listed on two rosters as "floating players" in the event to allow teams with low roster numbers to maintain the minimum of rostered players during the regular season. (Eeach floating player was approved by the board at the beginning of the season with detailed explanation)

  • Each team will be required to submit a team photo with each player's face visible and wearing his/her jersey with the number visible within a week after they play their first match. This will allow coaches to take a team photo right before or after the first match. (If the numbers are only visible on the back of the jerseys, have the players wear the jersey backward). This does not have to be a professional photo. 

    • Previously teams only submitted a written roster to the league.
